There is a new market research report out from QY Research Group on the “2010 China Wind Turbine Nacelle Cover and Nose Cone Industry”. The report, which costs $2,500 USD will go into detail on the manufacturing of composite nacelle covers, and will likely talk about the use of sandwich structures to make this product lightweight, yet strong.

A new refrigerated trailer is about to become available in the US. The trailer panels are manufactured in China by China International Marine Container Co (CIMC) and then assembled in the US. The panels use painted aluminum skins with an insulating foam core. CIMC is the largest manufacturer of containers in the world…

One could guess that valuable weight could be shed by using FRP composite skins, but it is likely that the low cost aluminum sandwich panel benefits are more significant than weight savings.
